My head is swimming with ideas. I am hoping to make some of them a reality this weekend. I started working on a little something for Jane.
It's not turning out exactly how I envisioned. I made a math mistake - ugh! I think it will be OK. At least I now know what not to do the next time around.
The girls don't have school today so I would like to do something fun. The high temp today is a whopping 48 - good grief! Outdoor activities are out of the question. I am going to put my thinking cap on and come up with some sort of a plan. See you all later!
Warning: Cute feet in little socks!
She likes them! And they fit! While I was finishing them, I let Kate play with my camera. See her photos here.
Don't think that Jane is going to be left out. She has already chosen her yarn. And yes, it is variegated, too.
The tooth extraction was successful. Pliers were used. Kate is one brave girl! She put her tooth in an envelope to stick under her pillow. She said, "Goodbye tooth. Have fun with all the other tooths in toothland." This morning she found $5 under her pillow - the same amount Jane got for her first tooth (which I completely attribute to it being lost on Christmas Day and the tooth fairy feeling very generous). She also told me she saw the tooth fairy! Apparently she has blue hair and rides a pegasus. Who knew?
Jane's reading was a great success! I am super proud of her. She got up to the microphone and didn't waiver a bit. As for me, I got a bit teary (sniff). She's growing up so fast.
Today is our last warm day for awhile. The temperature is headed back to the 40's. Sigh. It's been nice.
All the spring weather has given me an itch to get sewing. I started cutting out some things for the girls last night. I have loads of ideas floating through my head - so many that I didn't sleep well. I just hope I can make them reality.
I didn't finish the socks. As soon as I do, Kate will want to wear them. I think they'll be better at 45 degrees than they would be at 75 degrees. Tomorrow sweet girl. I promise.
We drew a name for the garland kits this morning. The winner is...
Dawn! I will email you for your address and have it on its way this week.
Kate is about ready to lose her first tooth. Right now she has two rows of teeth - the permanent ones are already in behind the baby ones. Oh my little shark!
She doesn't want to pull it herself. She asked Fatty to use pliers! They tried last week, but it wasn't loose enough. Round two is tonight. And to make it all a bit more dramatic, Jane can't stand looking at or hearing about Kate's tooth. I guarantee that if anyone cries, it'll be Jane.
Jane is reading in front of the whole school today. That's where you'll find me at 10:00 a.m.
Happy Wednesday all!
It's too nice to do anything but play outside. 78 degrees too nice. But when I am sitting in the carpool line, I have to do something.
I just need to knit up the last toe and my first (well, really second) pair of socks is finished.
Back tomorrow folks. Hope your weather has been as good as ours.
Daylight Savings Time always throws me for a loop. Thank goodness for coffee.
I normally have one, maybe two cups each morning. Today I am dragging so if I seem a bit strange, it may be all the caffeine.
We had a great weekend. My mom was here for a short visit and the weather was beautiful - all sunny and warm. The girls played outside. They got into hula hoops, jump ropes, frisbees, roller skates, scooters. It was so nice to have some "new" things to do. There are some photos here. Poor Fatty came down with the stomach flu Saturday night and spent all of Sunday in bed. I am hoping it passes over the rest of us.
It was a craft-free weekend. I did spend a little time cleaning the sewing room up. Up for grabs:
You can see it on their website here. I have two sets - enough for 24 little stockings on a ribbon garland. The best part? I have done all the cutting - you just have to sew it up and embellish it. The bad news? Because I cut it all out, I can't separate the sets. Both will go to one lucky person - I will give you until Tuesday night to email me (hillroad at bellsouth dot net) if you are interested. I will draw a name and let you know on Wednesday. OK?
Time to do the laundry. When that's finished, you'll find me playing outside.
I hurt my neck - too much intense knitting is my guess. Things are at a bit of a standstill over here so I thought I would take the time to thank a couple of wonderful blogging pals for some mail candy I have received in the last couple of weeks. Follow the links to see.
Stephanie of A Little Deer is an incredibly talented gal. She sent me this amazing painting. There are houses. On a hill. I love it! Thank you Stephanie!
This Vintage Chica, Eren, sent me a cool vintage coverlet that I had admired. I don't know what I am going to do with it yet, but I will make something with it. She also sent me some very cool vintage napkins (sorry no pics) and a great book It was extremely generous of her - thanks Eren!
In exchange for the lovely buckets Meg made for me, I sent her some handmade goodies:
a patchwork belt
and a knitted bag.
I am going to try to take it easy and resist the urge to finish the socks in the hopes that my neck/shoulder will heal. Have a great weekend and don't forget to "spring forward" on Sunday.
Yesterday I got re-acquainted with my bicycle.
I pedaled off to meet some friends for coffee.
The weather wasn't too warm - about 50-ish - but it was so good to get on the bike and go somewhere. I love that my knitting can easily come along too.
And I think I just may be a sock knitter. One down and half of the other left to go! Get ready for photos of cute kid feet.
